9.Auspicious Culture (Part Three)

Language is also part of Chinese auspicious culture. As we all know, China is a nation of etiquette(礼仪之邦). Chinese people choose words carefully when they talk to each other. For example, when an old man celebrates his birthday, people must wish him the happiness as immense as the Eastern Sea and a life as long as the southern mountain. And when a man and a woman get married, we must wish them a devoted couple to the end of their lives. When a new shop opens, people must wish the owner to have a booming business. When a new year comes, people wish each other a happy new year. Even in daily life, people give their good wishes to each others.

Chinese culture has some auspicious customs to express people's good wishes. This can be especially seen during the Spring Festival (春节). All the family members get together on the New Year's Eve (除夕)and enjoy a rich dinner which means they are united. Relatives and friends visit each other and express their good wishes. People always play firecrackers and put Chinese couplets on the door to welcome the new year and getting rid of the bad luck in the last year.

Chinese auspicious culture can be found everywhere in life. If you want to understand Chinese culture better, you must know something about its auspicious culture.
