5　Selection of Rotating Machines

5.1　The rotating machines，instruments and control systems selected for the material handling system in petrochemical industry shall accommodate the requirements for the process plant.

5.2　Chinese content machines shall be maximized based on the following principles:

a）Machines designed with proven technologies，good performance，low energy consumption，low noise emission，less pollution to the environment，and easy operation and maintenance shall be selected.

b）Standard and series machines with reliable performance are preferred.

c）Selection of special machines，such as elevators，hoisting machines and vehicles used in the plant shall conform to the Code for Quality Surveillance and Safety Supervision of Special Equipment.

d）If newly developed machines are selected，they shall be provided with complete fabrication technical documents and appraisement documents or machine inspection/testing reports issued by the quality surveillance authorities，and shall have more than half a year of proven service under the similar process conditions.

e）If machines or equipment in inventory or relocated from other services are used，they shall be provided with complete technical dada，and inspection，testing and appraisement documents.

f）Machines with larger capacity should be selected if a large volume of materials is required for handling.

g）Machines with high mechanization and automation levels shall be selected in the process environment harmful to human health.

5.3　If rotating machines may experience frequent failures，require a long time for repair，and affect safe operation of the system，standby machines shall be provided.

5.4　Requisition documents（technical specifications）shall be developed for the machines to be procured based on their service conditions，and the proposals from the bidders shall be evaluated，and technical attachments to the Contract shall be reviewed to ensure equipment procured in compliance with the technical requirements.
