8.8　Coal Handling Auxiliary Facilities and Ancillary Buildings

8.8.1　For each line of the coal handling system，one-stage magnetic iron separator shall be respectively provided at the first transfer tower after the coal unloading facility，as well as at the outlet of belt conveyor and in front of the coal crusher.If medium-or high-speed mills are used，additional one-stage magnetic iron separator shall be provided after the coal crusher.

8.8.2　Weighing devices used for as-received and as-fired coal of power plants shall be provided，and，if the conditions permit，mechanical sampling devices for as-received and as-fired coal should be provided as well.

8.8.3　The following measures shall be taken to prevent clogging of the coal handling system:

1　The included angle between the wall of the receiving/transfer coal hopper and the horizontal plane shall not be less than 60°，and that between the intersection line of the adjacent walls of rectangular receiving hopper and the horizontal plane shall not be less than 55°.

2　The included angle between the coal chute and the horizontal plane should not be less than 60°.When the included angle cannot reach 60° due to condition limitations，measures shall be taken（such as installation of vibrators）to prevent coal clogging according to the moisture content，grain composition and caking conditions of the coal.Even in this case，the said included angle shall not be less than 55°.

8.8.4　Lifting facilities and maintenance area shall be provided for the coal handling equipment.

8.8.5　The coal dust shall be controlled in accordance with the following requirements:

1　The coal with excessively low surface moisture and prone to emit dust may be appropriately damped to an extent where the normal operation of coal handling and combustion systems and boiler efficiency will not be affected.

2　The arrangement of coal handling equipment shall consider the facilities for ground cleaning.If the ground is flushed hydraulically，facilities for removing the slurry and sediment shall be provided.

3　If the fall at the coal handling points is more than 4.0 m，the coal chute should be provided with airlock baffle.

4　Measures shall be taken in the coal transfer tower and coal crusher room to suppress rising dust.When necessary，dust collecting devices may be provided.

5　Water spraying devices shall be provided at the coal yard where the raw coal stored is prone to emit dust and thus requires damping.The moisture of the damped coal shall be determined based on a range of factors，such as the coal type，quality and grain size distribution，but should not be more than 8%.

6　Dust control measures should be taken in the vicinity of the residential areas when the coal storage yard significantly affects the surrounding environment.

8.8.6　The office，duty room，duty shift room，maintenance room，spare parts warehouse，coal shed，bulldozer shed，bath room，toilets，and other related facilities required for the workshops of the coal handling system could be combined into the same building and shared by other system facilities.
