9.6 Startup Boiler

9.6.1 For power plants requiring startup boilers, the quantity, capacity, and fuel for the start-up boilers shall be determined by comprehensively taking into account the capacity, startup mode of units, and actual conditions(such as meteorological condition)of the region where the plants are situated, and shall comply with the following requirements:

1 In the calculation, only the steam flow required for startup is considered without regard to any margin.Furthermore,it is not necessary to take into account the steam flow for steam turbine rolling, the steam flow for construction that may be suspended temporarily and the steam flow for other purposes than startup.

2 The capacity of the startup boiler should not exceed 1×10t/h.

3 The startup boilers should be designed as a packaged boiler firing oil.In severe cold regions, the startup boiler may also be used for supplying steam for construction.Packaged boiler or conventional boiler firing coal should be employed.

9.6.2 Startup boilers should be low-pressure steam(1.27 MPa)boilers. The associated systems shall be simple, reliable, convenient for operation, and no standby auxiliary system shall be provided. If necessary, the startup boiler system may be designed in such a manner that allows easy dismantling and moving later. The coal-fired startup boiler house should be designed as simply as possible provided that the requirements on safe production and environmental protection are met.

9.6.3 For extended power plants, the auxiliary steam of the existing units shall be used as the startup steam source, and no startup boiler is required.
