10.5 Off-site Ash Transportation System

10.5.1 If ash is transported outside by trucks,enclosed dumping trucks should be used,and public service vehicles shall be preferred.

10.5.2 If belt conveyors are used to convey ash outside the plant,facilities for short-term ash storage shall be furnished in the plant area.Bottom ash shall be cooled and wetted or cooled and dewatered,while fly ash shall be wetted.Belt conveyors shall be designed in a single line.The design output shall be determined according to the amount of ash to be conveyed,conveying distance,and operating mode of the system,and it should not be less than 300% of the maximum ash discharge of the power plant.Except in severe cold regions,belt conveyors should not be provided with enclosed galleries but shall be provided with necessary protective covers;alternatively,tubular belt conveyors may be employed.

10.5.3 If barges are used to transport ash outside the power plant,ash wharves and barge loading facilities shall be furnished according to the ash amount to be transported and the type of barges.
