A Child Who iS Worth Teaching

During the Qin Dynasty, citizens suffered under the rein of the tyrant King.A young man named Zhang Liang had always wished for everyone to live happily. One day when he was tired from studying he decided to take a stroll. He saw a strange old man crossing the bridge towards him.The old man was wearing rags and dirty shoes. As Zhang passed the old man he politely greeted him.The old man strangely took his shoes off and threw them over the bridge, then shouted,“Young boy,go and retrieve my shoes!”Although Zhang was angry,he retrieved the old man,s shoes and handed them to him.“Put them on me!”the old man demanded.Zhang patiently put the shoes on the old man's feet. The old man concluded that Zhang was a child worth teaching. He asked Zhang to meet him at the bridge five days later when he would hand something very important to him.

When Zhang arrived at the bridge, the old man handed him a book on how to become a good military official,as he knew Zhang wanted to help the citizens to live a happy life.Zhang studied the book, eventually he became a superior military official who had carried out many good deeds for the people.
