Message timing
It is obvious that computer communication is very similar to the way humans communicate. The same applies when it comes to the timing of the messages being transmitted. In this sense, we can be impressed by the rules that have been placed to govern the message timing in communication between computers. They are as follows:
- The access method enables computers to determine the time when they can begin sending messages. Also, it helps computers know how to react to situations when message collisions occur.
- The flow control method enables computers to negotiate the correct timing. Thus, source and destination computers will be able to communicate successfully.
- The response timeout method enables computers on the network to wait for responses before beginning to send messages. Also, it helps computers know what action to take if a response timeout occurs.
