Research on Heidegger's “Ges-tell”Technical View

Shu Hongyue

Abstract: Heidegger has different views towards technology in different periods. The traditional empirical technology is the collection of the quartet of “Heaven, Earth, God and Man”. However, the modern technology is scientific technology, which is the“Ges-tell”not only forcing the nature, but also forcing the mankind. Heidegger's“Ges -tell”view of technology has a duality: on the one hand, it understands that(modern)technology stems from the overgrowth of the“subjectivity”of mankind, so that human beings' desire to conquer and control things is infinitely expanded; on the other hand, this view of technology separates the fact that human beings and technology belong to the same life-world, failing to see the“companion”relationship between technology and mankind which both are inseparable parts of a community of shared destiny.
